BEADED COFFEE CUP COZY

I love the cup cozy everyone is showing these days. They help keep your coffee warm or your drink cold or protect your hands from burning. Here is an easy to follow crochet pattern that includes beads.

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn stash.

Size H8/5.00mm crochet hook

Plastic beads - I chose plastic because they wash easily and no worries for them breaking. The beads can be any size you chose. They only requirement is that the hole needs to be large enough for your yarn needle to pass thru.

I use a large eye sewing needle because it is smaller than a yarn needle. A needle for crewel or plastic canvas works well.

Beginning:

Thread needle with yarn and string approximately 40 beads onto your yarn.

Chain 15.

Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in the next 2 ch, slide bead down yarn to the base of the sc, * sc in the next 2 ch, slide bead * 4 times, sc in the last 3 chs, ch1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in the back loops only, ch1, turn (14sc)

Row 3 – 4: repeat row 2

Row 5: Sc in the first 3 sc, slide bead, * sc in the next 2 sc, slide bead * 4 times. Sc in the last 3 sc, ch1 turn

Row 6-8: repeat Row 2

Row 9: Repeat Row 5

Row 10-12: Repeat Row 2

Row 13: Repeat Row 5

Row 14-16: Repeat Row 2

Row 17: Repeat Row 5

Row 18-20: Repeat Row 2

Row 21: Repeat Row 5

Row 21-23: Repeat Row 2

Row 24: Repeat Row 5

Row 25-27: Repeat Row 2

Row 28: Repeat Row 5

Row 29-31: Repeat Row 2

Finishing:

Fold Cozy in half, right sides together. You will be sc the ends together. Put hook thru the back loop of the Row facing you and then thru the bottom of the beginning ch. Continue completing the sc and repeat this across. Fasten off and weave in end.

Turn right side out and enjoy!
